How can I automatically install all Post XP SP3 Updates?
Windows XP SP3 was released in May 2008 and contains over 1000 fixes since Windows XP SP2 was released in August 2004. Although Service Packs contain many fixes, they do not always update all components of the Operating System. Typical examples of this are Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.
What are the requirements?
You must be running either Windows XP Home SP3 or Windows XP Professional SP3 prior to installing this update.
So what are my options for single installations?
For single installations we recommend Windows Update or even better, Microsoft Update. This'll update both Windows and Microsoft Office - in addition to other Microsoft products.
What are my options for network installations or domains?
For large networks or domains which are controlled by Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008, we recommend WSUS (Windows Server Update Services). WSUS gives administrators full control as to what updates are applied to workstations, but more importantly, provides accurate information on what updates are installed and what updates are needed.
What can Logistix provide to make patching easier?
We've created a Windows XP Post SP3 Pack which will automatically install all up-to-date components of Windows XP SP3 and Security Updates. This is a true offline package requiring no access to the internet. This is particularly useful for computers without direct access to the internet, computers with slow internet connectivity such as 56K Dial-up or for administrators creating base images. Using a process of duplication or cloning, all workstations will have the same up-to-date components installed from the start.
What does the Logistix Post XP SP3 Pack include?
Internet Explorer 8, Media Player 11, all Post XP SP3 Hotfixes to date, Adobe Flash 10.0.32.18 and Adobe Shockwave 11.5.1.601
Where can I download the Logistix Post XP SP3 Pack?
Please view our File Library > Windows XP for downloads. Please note the download comes in five parts in WinRAR format. Extract all five parts into the same directory, then run the pre-configured batch file called Install.bat.
You will also be required to edit the path variable (within Install.bat) where you extracted the files.
